Here is a summary of the main aims and objectives of the masterclass.

Don't just take my word for it!

Here is what some of my students say about this masterclass:

"I have been following 'Learning Linocut' for quite a while now and have always loved seeing Susan Yeates' linocut work and beautiful products pop up on my Instagram feed. When she recently released her new masterclass for linocutting I knew I had to join and learn more. I am so glad I did! The masterclass is full of amazing tips and knowledge with really well structured modules starting with the tools and basics, leading up to the advanced techniques. It made the whole process easy to follow along and a joy to watch. She goes into so much detail so you have a full understanding of linocutting, and the videos demonstrating everything were brilliant! I loved how she went into detail of the many ways you can be creative with your linocut too and shared a whole range of resources. The masterclass is brilliant and I highly recommend it. You can go at your own pace too as there is no deadline for accessing the course. Perfect! Five star rating from me."

Why Greetings Cards?

There is nothing more special than gifting someone a handmade card you have created from scratch yourself. This could be a birthday, a thank you or a special occasion such as Christmas or Valentines.

I see greetings cards as pocket-sized pieces of art that can be small and simple to create as well as complex and detailed for more experienced printmakers. They are completely unique and in a world where we don’t send letters much any more – a handmade card truly is something special.

For people starting out with the technique of linocut, greetings cards can be a fantastic place to begin your learning as they are quick to create and less daunting than creating a full scale 'piece of art'. Cards can also be a fun way to experiment, with little or no pressure - if it goes 'wrong' never mind, just start again and create a new card.

Who is this course for?

This course is perfect for:

  • Anyone looking to make high quality handprinted greetings cards using lino.
  • Beginners to the technique looking to get started.
  • Anyone who has been ‘dabbling’ with Linocut and wants a structured course to follow.
  • People looking for deeper insight into the tools and materials needed for linocutting.
  • Anyone wanting to see my own process as a linocut artist as I open up my home studio and sketchbooks and show you my methodology.
  • Those looking to gain a thorough understanding of single-coloured lino printing (and wanting a easy-to-follow introduction to two-colours).
  • People looking for a new art or craft that can easily be done from home in a small space.
  • Anyone wanting to join a community of other linocut enthusiasts as we have a special 'Linocut Facebook Group' for this masterclass and all my linocut courses.

Why I created this course...

I have created this special masterclass as I constantly get asked for information on linocut and online tuition. To help me shape this specific course, I created a detailed survey in September 2020 to get feedback from my followers and students on specifically what people wanted to learn and how they wanted to learn it.

The results:

This detailed online masterclass that focusses on a single project, is pre-recorded so you can study at your own pace, doesn’t break the bank and yet covers the essentials on how to make linocuts.

In this fact-packed course I do aim to cover a LOT because I simply love sharing my knowledge on this subject and from the feedback I get from my two linocut books I know there are so many people out there interested in making linocut prints but don’t know where to start.

This whole course has been created filmed from my home studio where I live in Surrey in the UK. It is a small compact space and as I welcome you into my home and my studio I hope you have a lot of fun and learn a lot about linocut and making greetings cards.

What is a Masterclass?

A masterclass is different to one of my normal courses as it is packed full of more content and information and really hones in on a specific project or technique. These are some of my most detailed and in depth courses on a subject. You will still be able to finish this course in a set period of time such as a few weeks, depending on how quickly you work.

What tools and materials do I need for this course?

A full materials list will be included as part of this course as will an in depth discussion (with videos) on specialist materials such as lino, cutting tools, inks and paper. After watching the videos you will be able to make informed decisions on what to buy. Essentially though you will need paper (or card), lino, cutting tools, inks and a roller as well as basic art materials such as pencils, tracing paper,  carbon paper, masking tape, a wooden spoon and some pens.
