Introduction
Hello and a huge warm welcome to Sketching for Me-Time - a 5-day course packed full of simple sketching exercises to help you to carve out time for yourself and your sketchbook.
How the Course Works
My aim here is to help get you inspired and to boost your creativity over the next five days. Each day you will gain access to a new sketching exercise for you to try. The exercises are simple creativity boosters (I sometimes call them sketchbook warm-ups) and a great way to relax in just a few minute with your sketchbook to hand.
They are aimed at being approachable, easy to follow and will allow you to carve out important time for yourself throughout the day (i.e. "ME-TIME"). I believe that just a few minutes per day dedicated to YOU can work wonders for your overall wellness and happiness. Seriously - sketching stops me from being 'grumpy mummy!'
Just log into this course portal each day, find the new section, watch the video and follow along!
I recommend that you work through the Introduction lessons first and introduce yourself to the course in the comments on the next lesson.
The video tutorials will release at a rate of one per day, with the day 1 exercise being available right now!
You will need about 5-10 minutes per day to follow this course and this is suitable to beginners to sketching as well as experienced artists. Everyone should have the opportunity to sketch and spend time relaxing with a sketchbook, regardless of 'technical' ability.
What Do you Need? (Tools and Materials)
To work through this 5-day sketching course, you just need just three things:
A sketchbook (or some paper)
A pencil
A pen
The aim with this limited list of materials is to keep it simple.
Everyone should have access to these very basic sketching materials somewhere in their house - which means there is no need to go and buy new materials or a special list of 'stuff' to get going (although I of course fully support any art shop trips you might want to take!).
Each individual tutorial will explain in a little more detail what is specifically needed (and what subject matter we will be drawing), but purchasing fancy materials isn't necessary for this course.
We NEVER want materials to be a barrier to sketching. Let's keep this simple and keep it all about the sketching, the relaxation and the all-important carving out time just for you.
Ongoing Access
Don’t forget that even after the five days are complete you will have ongoing access to this course and its content. Please enjoy and revisit the tutorials as many time as you need to.
Therefore if life gets in the way and you don’t finish the course in the next five days, you can come back whenever is convenient for you.
But I'm sure that over the next 5 days you can find those little pockets of time JUST FOR YOU.
Enjoy the course.
