Aims and Objectives



The aims and objectives of this course are as follows: 

  • To understand what linocut is 

  • To gain a thorough understanding of the tools and materials needed to handprint a greetings card using lino including some lino alternatives

  • To have a good idea of how to create a design for a greetings card

  • To be competent in transferring a design onto a block using carbon and tracing paper

  • To be competent in cutting the lino including knowledge of how to hold a linocutter and what cutting tools to select for different marks

  • To understand exactly how to ink a small linocut block using a roller

  • To know how to hand-burnish a piece of lino using a wooden spoon

  • To have created a registration board and know how to use it

  • To have created at least one single-colour linocut greetings cards

  • To have the knowledge of how to create a two-colour print and some other options for where you could develop your skills
