Welcome to this Fabric Printing Masterclass!

Hello and a huge welcome to this online course all about learning the art of block printing onto fabric.

My name is Susan and I will be your course tutor. This course has been several months in the making, and includes many years of my knowledge and experience of printmaking, and I can't wait to share all this with you and see what you create yourself.

The image below pictures me in my home studio in Surrey in the UK where this course has been created and filmed...

This course aims to teach you everything that you would need to know about block printing onto fabric, in the way that I do this myself.

I cover the whole process in detail from sourcing inspiration for designs, sketching motifs, cutting the block and of course printing onto fabric or pre-made fabric products.

The masterclass also explores the different ways that we can create repeat patterns and I demonstrate a number of different examples of how this can be used.

At the end of the course you will also find a number of specific projects that will ask you to create final pieces such as cushions, tea-towels, an apron and t-shirts. However this is just the beginning of your journey - once you know how to print onto fabric, the world is your oyster and you can print whatever you want out of the beautiful block designs you come up with.

Video: Welcome and Introduction

In the video above I welcome you into the course and introduce you into what we aim to do in this masterclass together.

I would recommend working through the course in the order that it is presented to you as it is structured in a logical and progressive manner, i.e. each section builds upon the content and knowledge of the previous one, culminating in the projects at the end.

Comments

At the bottom of each section of this course portal there is a comments section. Feel free to use this section to ask questions, make comments and share your progress throughout. You can upload pictures (one at a time) as well as write text.

This will be seen by both myself (Susan) and other students of the course. This way we all get to connect and share the experience of the course together.

See you soon...
